The video, shot using a camera attached to the base jumper Thayer Healy’s helmet, shows him crashing into the rock and sliding down the cliff face with a parachute as he loses control of the descent.

Shot near the famous Wall Street climbing area outside Moab in Utah, the video shows Healey spinning into the cliff wall in slow-motion, his hands groping for stability against the crumbling sandstone.

Healey wrote beneath the video that he had suffered serious injuries as a result of the accident, requiring five stitches to the eye and six to the chin.

His injuries include a compression fracture of a vertebra, and a severely sprained back, wrist and hand.
