Girl Donates Kidney To Dying Boyfriend, He Proposes At Baseball Game | RedCowHills

Man Proposes After Throwing 1st Pitch at KC Royals Game She gave him her kidney, then he asked for her heart.
Just months after Taesha Benson donated one her kidneys to her boyfriend, Travis Spire-Sweet, their touching story earned them a chance to throw out the first pitch a Kansas City Royals game.

But Spire-Sweet also threw Benson a curveball.

On bended knee, he proposed to her on the field of Kauffman Stadium on May 28.

Spire-Sweet, who was born with chronic kidney problems and wasn’t expected to live past his first birthday, spent more than a year on a donor’s list before discovering Benson was a perfect match, an only 1-in-30,000 chance.

“I thought it was a good time to thank the person who saved my life, and hopefully have the rest of my life to thank her for what she did,” Spire-Sweet told local affiliate, KSHB.

Through tears of joy, Benson said “Yes,” removing the baseball glove from her left hand so he could place the ring on her finger.

Spire-Sweet decided it was the perfect opportunity to pop the question because the couple went to a Royals game on their second date.
