TALLMADGE TOWNSHIP, MI — Neighbors surrounding an Ottawa County home where a 16-year-old was shot in the face and critically injured Wednesday said it’s not the first time teens there have used guns irresponsibly.
They described past incidents of target shooting and trespassing on neighbors’ properties in the 3900 block of Leonard Street.
“I fear for my four kids. Every time I let them outside, I worry they will get injured,” said Audrey Monroe, 29, who lives directly behind the residence where Richard Usher, 18, allegedly shot the victim, identified by mutual friends of the teens, as Brandon Kuiper.
As Usher was arraigned Thursday, March 7, in Hudsonville District Court on charges of attempted manslaughter, Kuiper was listed in critical condition in Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital.
