A statement, released via Adkins’ publicist, has been released in regards to the divorce of Trace and Rhonda  Adkins.

The message released on Thursday (May 27th) reads:

“Trace and Rhonda are united in ensuring that their children’s interests come first. They thank everyone for respecting their privacy as they work through this personal matter together.”

After nearly 17 years of marriage, Rhonda Adkins filed for divorce on Tuesday (March 25th) in Nashville citing irreconcilable differences and requesting primary custody of their three daughters (ages 16, 12, and 9) in addition to child support, alimony, and for Trace to cover all of her legal fees.

The divorce is another hit for Trace after a rough year following the release of his album  ‘Love Will…’. In January Adkins was involved in a minor altercation on board a cruise which resulted in his checking into rehab for alcoholism after 10 years of being sober.  His stint in rehab was cut short though after only a couple of weeks when his father became ill and ultimately passed away in early February.

Our sympathies go out to the Adkins family in this difficult time.
