Zac Brown caused a big stir last week, when he came forward in an interview on Vancouver’s 93.7 JRfm and called out Luke Bryan’s new single, ‘That’s My Kind of Night,’ and took shots at what he called “tailgate in the moonlight, daisy duke” songs in general.

“I love Luke Bryan, and he’s had some great songs, but this new song is the worst song I’ve ever heard,” Brown said. “I see it being giant commercially, successful within what is called country music these days, but I also feel like that the people deserve something better than that.”

Farr says he wouldn’t have done the same in Brown’s position. “If someone asked me their opinion honestly … you know if  Lee [Brice] came to me and asked me … I’ve been honest with him. And I expect him to do the same with me,” he tells Taste of Country. “But I would only give [my] two cents where it was asked of [me].”

Farr also notes that not every country song has to be serious, and that songs like ‘That’s My Kind of Night’ can just be fun.

“There’s certain songs that you’re gonna record that you hope to touch people and change lives, and there’s certain songs that you know that are not going to be that serious,” Farr says. “‘Honky Tonk Badonkadonk’ wasn’t some serious song, but it was huge! It was funny. I don’t take everything so serious.”
